Uno Soul (Denmark) – Fading Suns (single/future album track)

What would Oasis sound like if they were from Billund rather than Burnage?

A lot like this I reckon.

Uno Soul have visited us a couple of times before, the last time being in December of last year, but I don’t recall them sounding like this. Or on the previous one, the song ‘Heartbroken Girl’, which was like a fun-filled mash-up of the theme tunes to TV comedy programmes Cheers and Friends.

Their surreal video for the last release we covered, ‘Time to share’, has also mysteriously disappeared. The plot thickens.

They say this first single, ‘Fading Suns’, from their intriguingly titled forthcoming 10-track album, ‘Smirk’, “represents a new musical direction for us and with a rockier feel.

You can say that again.

It’s got the lot. The high-pitched tenor with a distinctly Manc accent. The jangly guitar limited largely to a couple of repeating chords. One of our kid’s solos, fuzzed up a bit. Powered up towards the end into anthem territory. A tune.

I can almost picture front man Rasmus Troels Jørgensen in a light green parka, adopting that attitude.

Oasis fans will love it. And I’m sure most everyone else will, too.

A limited vinyl edition of the album will be available from 8th November.

Uno Soul are:

Rasmus Troels Jørgensen: Guitar and lead vocal

Henrik Lysgaard Madsen: Guitar, slide guitar and backing vocals

Jeppe Thiesen: Bass

Per Mølgaard Jørgensen: Drums.
