Carsten Bojsen (Denmark) – I have seen the light (debut single)

It isn’t only Johnny Cash who’s seen the light. Meet the Dane Carsten Bojsen with his debut song, ‘I have seen the light.’

I can’t tell you much about him, there’s no promotion as such, even on social media and Spotify.

The only thing I can tell you from his sparse socials is that he is associated with several artists that have appeared in these pages including Lasse Mathiesen and Trinelise Vaering who was here not so long ago, and others, too.

And they convey upon him a certain gravitas by that association.

Carsten seems to be middle aged, possibly older, which is unusual for a debut single, but I’m certain he has history in the business because ‘I have seen the light’ is a high quality production that sounds like it comes from a seasoned campaigner.

A simple and gentle acoustic guitar melody is enhanced by an elegant synthesised contribution to what is essentially a piece of poetry with a ‘Streets of London’ feel to it.

I found the lyrics a little difficult to untangle. At first I thought it was about loneliness but the strap line so to speak, “Now I know/ I’ve seen the light/morning’s wiser than the dark night” suggests it’s about a break up and rash decisions made in the heat of the moment.

See what you make of it yourself.

I quickly classified Carsten along with the likes of Slagger Lund as a deep thinker who is probably enjoyed best in small, smoky venues along with a pint or two, and a cerebral discussion with friends later.
