Since 2015, the Gävle, Sweden based label Lamour has presented its “love bomb” ‘Because we love Music’ at the beginning of the year, a collection of music that showcases the diversity of the label and gathers together artists associated with the label and the local community.
During January 2025 it will deliver a new song every day, released on Spotify and for free on Bandcamp, mixing ambient, techno, and all the electronic stuff in between.
Day 1 is AKB’s ‘Noir’, which at first I believed to be a re-release of an old track but it appears to be literally hot off the press, and the first new release of 2025 that we are aware of.
AKB (Anna-Karin Berglund) is well known on the local Gävle scene (from where there is a lot of music, take my word for it, and we have featured numerous artists from that city over the years) and further afield.
After playing with numerous bands she launched her own ambient electronic career in 2016 with clear references to 1970s/80s ambience, embracing both melody and dissonance.
‘Noir’ showcases the benefits the night offers, offering solace in the enveloping shadows and their kaleidoscopic twilight camouflage.
And after the end 2004/begin 2025 that we just experienced perhaps it might be better to join her and stay under the sheets until next year.
