I’ve come to anticipate a real rocker every time from Scarlett’s Garden but they surpassed even my expectations with this latest single, ‘Let’s Go’ which will also be on their debut EP, ‘Breaking through the pavement’ when it is released on 29th November.
(I have a feeling that pavement might be the next stage after a glass ceiling?)
It’s the story of Friday night in Anywheresville. The girls have their glad rags on and they’re heading downtown to party like there’s no tomorrow. Along the way they might do some drinking and they are definitely going to steal the show.
There’s no subtlety to it at all. It’s a party song, period and you’d better all sing along. It falls somewhere between Shania Twain and Suzi Quatro while singer Suvi Biggs, a one-time backing singer in a Finnish metal band, has the look of an amalgam of Crissy Rock and Sykur’s manic front woman Agnes Björt Andradottir.
(By now they’re probably searching the Interweb to discover who these people are).
Actually I can easily imagine Suvi partying like it’s 1999. Caroline Boston has more of a bookish look about her, a sociology professor doing a little moonlighting, but boy does she lay down a mean guitar riff.
I’d love to see these ladies live. Especially on a Friday night.
